聖書（The Scriptures）

聖書は、神の霊感を受けた人々によって書かれたものであり、神がご自身を人に啓示されたものである。聖書は神的教訓の完全な宝であり、その著者は神、目的は救い、内容は誤りの混じらない真理である。

神（God）

生きておられる、まことの神は唯一お一人である。この永遠の三位一体の神は、父・子・聖霊としてご自身を啓示され、それぞれに人格的な区別はあるが、本質・性質・存在において分離はない。

父なる神

父なる神は、その恵みの目的に従い、摂理をもって宇宙とすべての被造物、そして人類の歴史の流れを治めておられる。神は、イエス・キリストを信じる信仰によって神の子とされた者にとって、真の父である。

キリスト

キリストは永遠の神の御子である。イエス・キリストとして受肉された際、聖霊によって宿り、処女マリアからお生まれになった。彼は完全な従順によって神の律法を成就され、十字架の死によって人を罪から贖う道を備えられた。栄光の体をもって死人の中からよみがえり、十字架につけられる前と同じお方として弟子たちに現れた。彼は天に昇り、今は神の右に高く挙げられ、完全な神であり完全な人である唯一の仲保者として、神と人との和解を成し遂げておられる。

聖霊

聖霊は神の霊であり、キリストをあがめられる。罪と義とさばきについて世を戒め、礼拝・伝道・奉仕において、信者と教会を悟らせ、力を与えられる。

人（Man）

人は神の特別な創造の御業によって、神のかたちに造られ、被造物の冠として創造された。しかし人は自由意志によって神に背き、罪を人類にもたらした。人間の人格の尊さは、神が人を御自身のかたちに造られ、またキリストが人のために死なれたことによって明らかである。ゆえに、すべての人は尊厳を有し、尊敬とキリスト者の愛を受けるに値する。

救い（Salvation）

救いは人全体の贖いを含み、イエス・キリストを主また救い主として受け入れるすべての者に、無償で与えられる。キリストはご自身の血によって、信じる者のために永遠の贖いを成し遂げられた。広い意味において、救いは再生、聖化、栄化を含む。

神の恵みの目的（God’s Purpose of Grace）

選びは神の恵みによる目的であり、それによって神は罪人を再生し、聖化し、栄化される。真の信者は終わりまで耐え忍ぶ。キリストにあって神に受け入れられ、御霊によって聖別された者は、恵みの状態から決して落ちることなく、最後まで忍耐する。

教会（The Church）

主イエス・キリストの新約の教会とは、バプテスマを受けた信者たちが、福音の信仰と交わりにおいて契約によって結ばれ、地の果てまで福音を広めようとする地域的な共同体である。この教会は自立した存在である。新約聖書はまた、教会をキリストの体として語り、そこにはすべての時代の贖われた者たちが含まれる。

バプテスマと聖餐（Baptism & Holy Communion）

キリスト教のバプテスマは、信者を水に全身浸すことである。これは、十字架につけられ、葬られ、よみがえられた救い主への信仰、罪に対する死、古い生の葬り、そしてキリスト・イエスにあって新しいいのちに歩む復活を象徴する、従順の行為である。

聖餐は、贖い主の死を記念し、その再臨を待ち望む象徴的な従順の行為である。

終末（Last Things）

神は、ご自身の時と方法によって、この世界をふさわしい終わりへと導かれる。イエス・キリストは、目に見える形で再び来られ、死者はよみがえり、キリストはすべての人を義をもってさばかれる。不義な者は地獄に定められ、義なる者は報いを受け、主とともに永遠に天に住む。

伝道と宣教（Evangelism & Missions）

すべてのキリストの弟子、また主イエス・キリストのすべての教会は、あらゆる国の人々を弟子とし、個人的な努力によって失われた者をキリストへ導く責任と特権を持つ。

教育（Education）

キリストの王国における教育の使命は、宣教と慈善の使命と調和しているべきである。学問の自由と学問的責任との間には、適切なバランスが必要である。キリスト教の学校・大学・神学校における教師の自由は、イエス・キリストの至高性、聖書の権威、そして学校の明確な目的によって制限される。

管理責任（Stewardship）

神は、時間的・霊的すべての祝福の源である。私たちが持つすべて、また私たち自身は神に負っている。キリスト者は、全世界に対する霊的責任、福音に対する聖なる委託、そして所有物に対する拘束力ある管理責任を持つ。ゆえに、時間・賜物・物質をもって神に仕え、これらすべてを神の栄光と他者を助けるために委ねられているものとして認識すべきである。

協力（Cooperation）

キリストの民は、神の国の偉大な目的を達成するために、最も適切な協力を確保する団体や大会を組織すべきである。これらの組織は、互いに、また教会に対して権威を持たない。諸教派間の協力は望ましい。

キリスト者と社会秩序（The Christian & the Social Order）

すべてのキリスト者は、自身の生活と人間社会において、キリストの御心が最も高く掲げられるよう努める義務がある。キリスト者は、あらゆる貪欲、利己心、悪に対して、キリストの精神をもって反対すべきである。

宗教の自由（Religious Liberty）

教会と国家は分離されるべきである。国家は、すべての教会が霊的目的を自由に追求できるよう、保護と完全な自由を保障すべきである。自由な国家における自由な教会こそ、キリスト教の理想である。

家庭（Family）

神は家庭を人間社会の基礎的制度として定められた。結婚は、一人の男性と一人の女性が、生涯にわたる契約的献身によって結ばれることである。夫と妻はともに神のかたちに造られており、神の前に等しい価値を持つ。結婚関係は、神がご自身の民と結ばれる関係を表している。子どもは、受胎の瞬間から主からの祝福であり、嗣業である。

The Scriptures

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.

God

There is one, and only one, living and true God. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with the glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He exalts Christ. He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

Man

Man was created by the special act of God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every pereson possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense, salvation includes regeneration, sanctification, and glorification.

God’s Purpose of Grace

Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end.

The Church

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel and seek to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. This church is an autonomous body. The New Testament speaks also of the church as the body of Christ, which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages.

Baptism & Holy Communion

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

Holy communion is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Last Things

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly and the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell. The righteous will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

Evangelism & Missions

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by personal effort.

Education

The cause of education in the Kingdom of Christ is coordinated with the causes of missions and general benevolence. There should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. The freedom of a teacher in a Christian school, college, or seminary is limited by the preeminence of Jesus Christ, by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures, and by the distinct purpose for which the school exists.

Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a spiritual debtorship to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the gospel, and a binding stewardship in their possessions. they are therefore under obligation to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions; and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others.

Cooperation

Christ’s people should organize such associations and conventions as may best secure cooperation for the great objects of the Kingdom of God. Such organizations have no authority over one another or over the churches. Cooperation is desirable between the various Christian denominations.

The Christian & the Social Order

Every Christian is under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in his own life and in human society. The Christian should oppose in the spirit of Christ every form of greed, selfishness, and vice.

Religious Liberty

Church and state should be separate. The state owes to every church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. A free church in a free state is the Christian ideal.

Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the unity of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God since both are created in God’s image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.
